about

A compilation of tracks from 1997 when I was at my most productive and following on from 'My Polyester Pixel'.

It was this year that 'Shuffle' was featured on the Future Music Magazine's July 1997 issue enhanced CD www.discogs.com/Various-FMCD-July-1997/release/543247. Zep Tepi '97, Axxe and Waveguide were all on the same demo CD that was submitted to Future Music and were mentioned in the review text in the magazine.

Progression of my signature style can be heard developing further (with a few more synths) by mixing together more styles and influences from the past and that period.

I would like to thank in no particular order The Black Dog Productions, Jedi Knights, Global Communication, Autechre, Speedy J, Kraftwerk, Two Lone Swordsmen, As One, Plaid, Link & E621, Ken Ishi, L.F.O., The Radiophonic Orchestra and the body popping electro-funk of the 80's for the inspiration.

Most of the tracks were recorded to Sony DAT and some to metal position tape (no automation here!) on a Sony Dolby S deck and now remastered in Ableton Live using iZotope Ozone in 24-BIT for release on Bandcamp.

I'm continuing to unveil my back catalog and publishing this so you can follow me on a journey to what is now the Rayspark Industries sound.

I hope you enjoy the journey.

Paul Darlington records as Rayspark Industries. The thirst for auditory discovery is what keeps his sound fresh and ever- changing and is the well-spring of his creativity. Music is used as a platform for explorations of new sounds found or created, many unheard and many certainly unused in the context of composition. ... more
